The ruling was the final outcome of a lawsuit filed by the Save the Plastic Bag Coalition, which insisted that the environmental impact of the bag ban was not properly assessed before the ordinance was passed. Santa Cruz, California Sued Over Plastic Bags

Plastic bag makers are fighting back against a recently passed ordinance banning plastic bags by suing the city of Santa Cruz, according to an article posted on the Sacremento Bee. According to the Associated Press, the lawsuit was filed by the "Save the Plastic Bag Coalition," an organization whose name seems to liken plastic bags to endangered animals.
